Finishing & Processing
Harley & Son have provided Southern California with the highest quality machined parts for 40 years. Our customers appreciate our attention to detail and commitment to the highest manufacturing standards. We continue to strive to provide the best service for our customers.
FINISHING & PROCESSING
We specialize in finishing & surface preparation for aerospace, medical device, semiconductor and electronics equipment, and more. We coordinate with our trusted NADCAP-certified partners to provide turnkey parts for our customers, which can include anodizing, plating, passivating, chemical conversion coating (chem film), dry lube, priming and painting, and advanced engineering coatings. We coordinate with our NADCAP certified partners which allow us to provide the level of superior quality and excellent that our customers have come to expect from our name. Other processes we offer are heat treating, EDM, and thread rolling.
We offer a broad range of solutions to safeguard and optimize the quality and security of final products – from machined parts for aerospace, medical, and heavy industry.
Heat Treatment
Heat treatment can improve the mechanical properties of many metals and are often specified to increase the strength of many steels. Processing can include:
- Hardening
- Annealing
- Case Hardening
- Nitriding
- Stress Reliving
- Normalizing
- Hardness Testing
- Tensile strength Testing

Processing
Following machining or fabrication, further processing may be require to achieve the required dimensional tolerances or features. This processing can include:
- Electronic Discharge Machining (EDM)
- Water jet cutting
- Grinding
- Centerless Grinding
- Thread Rolling

Surface Finishing
Surface finishes play an important role in providing required properties for many parts including corrosion resistance, and surface hardness. For metals, the most common processes we offer include:
- Anodizing aluminum
- Chromate conversion coating aluminum (chem film)
- Plating including nickel plating, electroless nickel plating, cadmium plating, chrome plating, zinc plating, tin plating
- Passivating stainless steels
- Priming and painting
- Powder coating
- Dry lube coating

Part Marking & Identification
As a final step, many parts are marked with part numbers or other required markings to prepare them for use. Marking processes include:
- Laser marking
- Silk screening
- Ink stamping
- Engraving
